This is a set of eight extremely unusual Alice in Wonderland and Alice Through the Looking Glass doyleys.
There are eight different designs: The Queen of Hearts, Alice in Wonderland, The White Rabbit, The Mad Hatter, The Mock Turtle, Alice through the looking glass, The Walrus, and finally, The Carpenter. I imagine that originally there were other characters but these are the ones that survived.
These charming, handmade doyleys appear to have been made from printed paper and fabric illustrations which were probably taken from books and mounted on linen/cloth. They all have lovely lace borders.
